BOROUGH MARKET is rich with history, but it remains as relevant now as it has ever been. As London’s oldest food market, it has been serving the people of Southwark for 1,000 years, and that extraordinary heritage is an important part of its appeal.

But this is not a museum piece—it is a dynamic, ever-changing institution; a participant in the wider debates around what we eat and where it comes from; a place where food is talked about almost as enthusiastically as it is consumed. The historic Three Crown Square had been closed for 3 and a half years as part of a huge refurbishment and a new viaduct was built. In 2014, as the refurbishment came to an end. we were asked to supply 40 new Red, Green and Yellow RS Plus umbrellas at 3m x 2.5m. Each umbrella is free standing with a folding base and block weights, each one has the unique Borough Market logo printed on 2 sides of the umbrella which makes them really stand out when walking around the market.
